For Immediate Release

Great Falls, Montana –

The Great Falls Business Improvement District (BID) is pleased to announce the continuation of its beautification efforts in Downtown Great Falls.  Building on the success of our previous downtown art projects we are kicking off our Parking Meter Art Project.  To expand on our work to make the downtown more colorful and visually appealing, artists will paint parking meters. The meters will initially be portable, so that as many people as possible can see them.

These meters, however, are not functional parking meters ~ they will be works of art.  People who like and appreciate the art will be encouraged to “plug” the meters with their donations.  The funds collected will, in turn, be returned to the Downtown through the work of the BID.  Eventually, they will be placed in a permanent garden, where they can be enjoyed by all for many years to come.

The Parking Meter Art Project is a public art opportunity open to all artists residing in Cascade County.  Artists who wish to participate can review the Call to Artists for the specific requirements.  The Call to Artists can be picked up at the BID office located at 13 5th Street North or downloaded from our website at www.greatfallsbid.com.  Emerging artists are encouraged to apply.

The Call to Artists is being made public on Wednesday, November 27th.  The submission deadline for artists to be considered for the project is Friday, January 30th at 12:30pm.

This project would not be possible without the support of the City of Great Falls, Advanced Coatings and Specialty Iron Works.
